This is an interview with Piet Hein Eek where he talks about his design universe. The interview is made by Designboost and is one of three made spring 2011 on the topic Design Beyond Design, which is also the overall theme for Designboost 2011. In a few days we will put up some stills from Piet Hein Eek’s workshop/studio/shop in Eindhoven.

The Scent of Confederate Jasmine

This time of year, South Carolinas warm, moist air is fragrant with Confederate (star) jasmine, above, and robust gardenias like those in the garden below. I was there recently to address the Charleston Horticultural Society (CHS) on my specialty, designing with succulents. Naturally I wondered if Id see any.

The CHS arranged for me to stay in a historic downtown Charleston single a house thats one room wide, not including its palazzos (porches).  As you can see, Katie Robertswho put me up and put up with mepainted the door of her homes former coach house morning-glory purple. M
