This is totally off-topic design-wise, unless you want me to do some lame stretch that has to do with eco-friendliness and saving the rain forest. Trust me, you dont (not to imply that saving the rain forest is lame, O.K., now I feel guilty. Help save it here).

Anyway, did anyone try watching the new TV show on ABC, The River? Its kinda The Blair Witch Project meets Heart of Darkness. Im just so desperate to find a replacement for LOST Im trying it all. I just caught the 2-hour premiere and I fear there might be too many snakes and people screaming WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM US?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!

There are so many ways to restore or reclaim old ugly furniture. Whether you have furniture hand me downs that need work, or have found a beat up piece of furniture with good bones in the thrift store, here are some great transformations to inspire you.

1. 1. Decoupaged Yellow Dresser Paint and cheery yellow fabric make this 45 year old dresser better than new.

BASSETT, Va. — Bassett Furniture Inds. said sales fell 4.2% in the fiscal fourth quarter, but the case goods and upholstery major recorded out a profit of $633,000.

The company said the sales decline was due largely to having fewer licensed Bassett Home Furnishings retail stores. Sales to company-owned stores and independent furniture retailers – other than Bassett stores – increased 9%.

“In order to reduce accounts receivable exposure from underperforming retail licensees, the company ultimately ended 2011 with 15 fewer licensed stores than at year end 2010,” said Rob Spilman, president and CEO. “This reduction in store count was responsible for 97% of the quarter’s decline in wholesale sales.”

Delivered sales at company-owned stores rose 13%, with a 4.9% comparable-store increase, he said.

The company ended its fiscal year on Nov. 2
